As Paris Saint-Germain continues to reshape its attack, one name is gaining serious traction: Alexander Isak. The Newcastle striker, who has officially requested a transfer, is now a top target for the French champions. And if he arrives, it could shut the door on another rumored signing—Rodrygo.
At 25, Isak is on the rise. Following a standout season in the Premier League, the Swedish international is seen as an ideal fit for PSG’s offensive plans. According to The Athletic, the Parisian club is closely monitoring his situation, although Newcastle won’t let him go for less than €100 million. A hefty price tag, but one that could be covered by the likely departures of Randal Kolo Muani and Gonçalo Ramos, both of whom are on the transfer list.
Luis Enrique, who usually avoids relying on traditional No.9s, could make an exception for Isak. His technical skills, mobility, and high-pressing ability make him a versatile asset. A move that would reshape PSG’s attack—and change the dynamics of their transfer strategy.
Rodrygo no longer in the picture
Long linked with PSG, Rodrygo now appears to be off the club’s radar. Despite continued speculation over his future at Real Madrid, the 24-year-old Brazilian is reportedly not part of PSG’s transfer plans. The Athletic confirms: if Isak joins, PSG won’t pursue Rodrygo, whose price tag is deemed too high for a potentially uncertain role in the squad.
The message is clear: PSG would rather go all-in on a true striker like Isak than invest heavily in a versatile winger who’s not guaranteed a starting spot. Rodrygo, therefore, may remain at Madrid—or explore other options if new doors open.
In this scenario, Isak may end up pushing Rodrygo far from Paris… and possibly out of the transfer spotlight altogether.
