Still searching for attacking solutions, Tottenham are working behind the scenes. While the Spurs are pushing ahead on Maghnès Akliouche, PSG, long interested, have definitively closed the file.
Thirteenth in the Premier League and struggling in front of goal, Tottenham Hotspur are looking to strengthen this winter. Thomas Frank’s men have scored only two goals in their last four outings, highlighting a glaring lack of creativity.
Tottenham Step Up While PSG Step Aside
With this in mind, London scouts watched Maghnès Akliouche on Saturday during AS Monaco’s defeat to Olympique Lyonnais (3-1), according to Team Talk. Despite an underwhelming match, the attacking midfielder boasts solid statistics this season.
Valued at more than £50m (around €60m), Akliouche remains a priority target for Tottenham, even though the club is also exploring other options, including RB Leipzig and their highly coveted Yan Diomande, deemed too expensive.
For their part, Paris Saint-Germain have definitively abandoned the idea of signing Akliouche. The player had nevertheless excited the Parisian club, with full agreement between Luis Enrique and Luis Campos. But last season’s attacking success cooled the staff’s enthusiasm, who no longer want to disrupt PSG’s attack. Now a French international, Akliouche should therefore no longer feature in Paris’ plans during this transfer window.
