Paris Saint-Germain continue to scout Ligue 1 as they look to strengthen their squad in the medium term. This time, the Parisian club have reportedly identified RC Lens defender Ismaëlo Ganiou, 21, as a potential target. PSG are even said to have explored the possibility of making a move for him during the 2026 summer transfer window.
PSG are already looking ahead to next season. Ganiou is on their radar, but more as a long-term target. Although the possibility of a deal was considered this summer, talks did not progress. Lens want to keep their young defender and are in a strong negotiating position after Ganiou extended his contract last August until June 2030. Under those circumstances, an immediate departure appears very difficult.
PSG Plan to Monitor Ganiou Throughout the Season
Parisian interest has not disappeared, however. Ganiou’s profile is reportedly highly rated internally, and according to PSG Inside Actus, PSG now intend to follow his development closely throughout the 2026-2027 season. The objective will be to assess whether he can confirm his potential over a longer period, improve his consistency and gain further experience at the highest level.
PSG could therefore scout him regularly this season, paying particular attention to his progress, his ability to handle the demands of Ligue 1 and whether he can take another step forward. The preferred scenario could now be a move during the summer 2027 transfer window. If Ganiou delivers another convincing season with Lens, Paris may return with a much more concrete approach.
His long-term contract will give Lens considerable leverage in any future negotiations, meaning PSG would probably have to make a significant investment if the defender fulfils his potential. For now, it remains a situation to watch. Paris were unable to make progress this summer, but Ismaëlo Ganiou’s name could return to the agenda in the coming months.
