On loan from Paris Saint-Germain to Fenerbahçe since January, Milan Skriniar is now at the center of a new transfer battle — this time between Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray, the two Istanbul powerhouses.
Under José Mourinho, the Slovak defender has rediscovered his form with 20 appearances, 3 goals, and 1 assist. Fener is impressed and wants to keep him permanently. They’re reportedly preparing a €20 million offer for PSG. But there’s a snag: wages. Skriniar is demanding €12 million/year, while Fener is offering €5.5 million. The club has issued an ultimatum, with a final decision expected by the end of June.
Galatasaray back in the game
Previously ruled out in January, Galatasaray is making a comeback in the race. The Turkish champions have submitted a €10 million bid and have reportedly reopened talks with the player. It’s a long shot, but Galatasaray hopes to turn things around.
Other suitors waiting in the wings
Elsewhere, interest from Saudi Arabia, Italy, and England persists — but again, Skriniar’s salary demands are a major hurdle.
PSG, for its part, is open to a sale as it looks to trim down the wage bill and reshape its defense.
