Transfer News: PSG “Half-Signs” a Player

Author: James B.

Is PSG already preparing a future transfer move? The Parisian club has paid €3.3 million to SC Braga to secure a right of first refusal on Mario Dorgeles. Paris will therefore have priority if the Portuguese club decides to sell the 22-year-old Ivorian attacking midfielder in the future.

It is a rather unusual deal for PSG. Without actually signing Mario Dorgeles, the French champions have agreed to spend several million euros to gain an advantage over potential rivals. The information appears directly in the full version of SC Braga’s financial report and accounts, with the Portuguese club confirming that it received €3.3 million from PSG in exchange for granting a right of first refusal on the player.

PSG secure priority on Mario Dorgeles

The agreement covers all of Dorgeles’ economic and sporting rights. In practical terms, PSG have put themselves in a privileged position should Braga decide to sell him. However, Dorgeles does not belong to PSG and the agreement does not guarantee that he will ever play in Paris. It simply gives the French club priority in the event of a future transfer, allowing PSG to secure an advantageous position on a player whose value could continue to rise.

The 22-year-old joined Braga from FC Nordsjaelland in the summer of 2025 for €11.5 million, according to the Portuguese club’s accounts. Capable of playing in midfield or further forward, the Ivory Coast international scored seven goals and provided four assists in 39 appearances last season. His start to the 2026-27 campaign has been less consistent, however, with only five starts in Braga’s opening 12 matches, and there is currently no indication that PSG intend to sign him in the short term.

The deal is also notable because of the relationship between the two clubs. QSI, PSG’s owner, holds a 29.6% stake in Braga’s SAD and is its second-largest shareholder behind the Portuguese club itself. Paris now has privileged access to one of Braga’s high-potential players, strengthening a connection that could play an important role in future transfer business.
