Paris Saint-Germain aimed high this summer with Lamine Yamal in their sights: the Barcelona player was a major target for the Parisians.
According to Andy Bara, Dani Olmo’s agent, who spoke on the Inkubator podcast, PSG made a staggering offer to FC Barcelona for the young star. Bara revealed that Barcelona rejected a bid from PSG of approximately €250 million for Yamal. “What I know is that Barça turned down a huge offer from PSG for Lamine Yamal, which was around €250 million,” he stated.
More Expensive than Neymar
Had it been accepted, this offer would have made Yamal the most expensive player in football history, surpassing Neymar’s transfer to PSG in 2017 for €222 million.
Luis Campos, PSG’s sporting advisor, addressed the matter this week. “If all the players rumored to be linked with PSG were actually here, we’d have five stars per position. But we only need two. Of course, I like Lamine Yamal, but also Dembélé, Barcola, Kang In-Lee, Marco Asensio, Gonçalo Ramos… Fantastic players of immense quality, let’s not forget that.”
“For me, to say that Lamine Yamal isn’t a great player would be a huge mistake. He’s an excellent footballer, and I’m very happy to see him playing at his level.”
