Paris Saint-Germain are pushing hard to land Tomás Araújo, and the deal is heating up fast. The 22-year-old Benfica centre-back remains a top defensive priority for the French champions.
According to PSG Inside Actus, Luis Campos personally travelled to Lisbon in mid-May to advance talks with Benfica. The player—under contract until 2028—is reportedly keen to join PSG, impressed by the club’s sporting project.
Zabarnyi and Araújo?
Importantly, PSG’s pursuit of Araújo does not rule out a deal for Ilya Zabarnyi. In fact, both defenders could arrive this summer, signaling a likely departure from PSG’s current centre-back rotation (Marquinhos, Skriniar, Pacho, Beraldo…).
Competition Heating Up
But PSG need to move quickly. Several other European clubs have shown late interest in Araújo, and the race is open. The ball is now in Paris’s court—they must act fast to avoid missing out.
The message is clear: PSG want to reshape their backline—and Araújo is right at the heart of the plan.
