PSG.Preseason pushed back – a high-pressure August awaits

Ousmane-Dembele

Paris Saint-Germain’s 2025-2026 campaign is already shaping up to be intense. After a grueling season and a crushing loss to Chelsea in the Club World Cup final, PSG have decided to slightly delay their return to training. Originally scheduled for August 4, the squad will now report back on August 6 — just one week before their UEFA Super Cup clash with Tottenham.

Luis Enrique has granted his players two extra days off, with no major departures yet, although some loanees like Kolo Muani, Renato Sanches, and Mukiele are set to return — none of whom are expected to rejoin the first-team setup. The break is short, the pressure already very real.

A packed August to set the tone

The month ahead will be crucial. PSG’s first major test comes quickly, with the UEFA Super Cup against Tottenham on August 13 in Udine. Ligue 1 kicks off just four days later with a trip to Nantes on August 17, followed by home and away matches against Angers (August 22) and Toulouse (August 30).

The club will also officially unveil the Champions League trophy at the Parc des Princes in August, and the group stage draw takes place on the 28th. With little room for preparation and huge expectations on their shoulders, PSG enter the season with no margin for error.
