The Classique on September 21 will take place without any Parisian supporters. As in recent years, Marseille’s police prefecture has ruled that no PSG fans will be allowed to travel to the Vélodrome for this Ligue 1 Week 5 clash (kick-off 8:45 p.m., Ligue 1+).
According to RMC Sport, three main reasons explain the decision: the historic tension between the two sets of fans, a recent incident involving a PSG supporter sneaking into the Paris FC visitors’ stand at the Vélodrome and sharing it online, and finally a 2020 episode when Paris ultras caused chaos at a Jul concert in Paris by attacking OM fans.
Risk of clashes
Authorities deemed the climate too explosive and want to avoid any potential trouble.
As a result, the Vélodrome will be 100% Marseille on September 21 — a fiery backdrop for an already high-voltage showdown.
