It is difficult to find someone to speak ill of Vitinha at the moment. Since the thrashing inflicted by PSG on Leverkusen (7-2), the Portuguese midfielder has been praised from all sides. Third in the Ballon d’Or, he continues to deliver masterclasses and wins everyone over — teammates, journalists, pundits… and even a club legend.
On RMC, Pedro Miguel Pauleta was effusive: “With Pedri, they have an enormous level. He is the best midfielder in the world. He reminds me of Iniesta. He doesn’t make a mistake, doesn’t miss a pass… He knows how to do everything with the ball! Moreover, he feels the confidence of the coach and the club. He is a phenomenon.”
Pauleta enchanted by Vitinha: “He reminds me of Iniesta!”
Compared to Iniesta by one of PSG’s greatest scorers, that says a lot. Always precise, always clean, Vitinha impresses with his maturity and influence in the game. At 25, he is becoming one of Luis Enrique’s key players.
And Pauleta does not hide his pride in seeing so many Portuguese players shine in Paris: “It is a pleasure to see these four boys — Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, João Neves, and Gonçalo Ramos. They are excellent players, but also simple guys. It’s a delight.”
PSG has much more than just a midfielder in form: a maestro who is universally acclaimed.
