Tension is rising in the Parisian goal. Arrived to shake up the hierarchy, Matvey Safonov is increasingly struggling with his role as a mere substitute. Not a minute played this season behind Lucas Chevalier, and the Russian goalkeeper is starting to seriously grind his teeth.
Safonov is fed up; he wants to slam the door this winter! Recruited to compete with Chevalier, Safonov has never been given his chance. According to L’Équipe, the former Krasnodar keeper is already considering a departure as early as January.
In Russia, he expressed his frustration to Sport-Express: “My future will have to wait for the transfer window. I want to play, prove my worth. If an offer comes, I will consider it.” Translation: he no longer wants to warm the bench.

Spanish and Portuguese clubs are closely monitoring his situation. A loan this winter is on the table. For his part, Luis Enrique remains firm: Chevalier is still number one.
