A Caen, the Mbappés lay off 20% of employees!

The SM Caen under the Mbappés is sinking even further. A year after the club was bought by the French star through Coalition Capital, a massive social plan is now hitting the red and blue house: 16 employees laid off. This is further proof that the world champion’s project is turning into a nightmare.

Initially aimed at bringing Caen back to Ligue 1, modernizing the club, and targeting Europe, the Mbappé project quickly derailed. First on the sporting front: the club finished last, relegated directly to National.

There is an explosive atmosphere internally, complicated integration of the “Mbappé clan,” and public criticisms from players, including Alexandre Mendy, who have denounced the club’s management.

Mbappé wanted Europe… Caen is fighting to stay in National.

Weakened by relegation, SM Caen had to drastically revise its ambitions. Despite promises from Fayza Lamari, the budget remains at €12 million, with significant investment in training — the management has launched a Job Preservation Plan. After two refusals from the labor inspection, the PSE is approved: 16 forced departures in the administrative, commercial, and marketing departments.

A club emptied and in doubt.

Caen now has only 68 employees, and the team is languishing in 10th place after 12 matches. Far, very far from the dream of immediate promotion envisioned by Mbappé. The project, already shaken on the sporting side, is now facing a full structural crisis.

The Mbappé clan wanted to revolutionize Caen… For now, it is mainly an industrial disaster that looms.
