France – Ukraine is the big clash of this evening’s qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. The Blues must win.
Qualification is at stake. A direct spot in the World Cup is guaranteed with a victory. A loss, and Ukraine would catch up, leaving the threat of playoffs looming just one match day before the end. This is simply the most important match of this campaign.
Didier Deschamps, however, has to make adjustments. The French team arrives weakened: Tchouaméni, Rabiot, Doué, Dembélé… all injured. The coach is expected to reshape his midfield and attack, with an explosive offensive quartet: Mbappé surrounded by Barcola, Cherki, and Olise. In midfield, Camavinga is expected to return to stabilize the center alongside Koné. The cards are reshuffled, but the objective remains the same: to win and avoid any calculations.
On the other side, Ukraine arrives with ambition. Trubin in goal, Zabarnyi and Matviienko as the backbone in defense, a technical midfield with Malinovskyi and Tsygankov, and a duo of Vanat and Dovbyk ready to exploit any space. A dangerous team, complete and fully capable of derailing the Blues.
Here are the probable lineups for France – Ukraine
France: Maignan – Koundé, Upamecano, Saliba, Digne – Camavinga, Koné – Olise, Cherki, Barcola – Mbappé.
Ukraine: Trubin – Konaplya, Zabarnyi, Matviienko, Mykolenko – Tsygankov, Malinovskyi, Yarmoliuk, Voloshyn – Dovbyk, Vanat.
