Joao Neves, the midfielder for PSG, has become one of the faces of the new campaign by the Portuguese government to encourage expatriates to vote in the presidential election on January 18, 2026. A future acting career lies ahead of him.
Joao Neves is venturing into cinema… or almost. With his partner, actress Madalena Aragão, he appears in a video filmed in Paris explaining how to confirm his voter registration abroad.
“I don’t know if I will be in Portugal that day,” he says during a scene on a bench. “Aren’t you already registered on the electoral rolls in Paris?” his girlfriend replies. “With my new address on my citizen card, I can vote here.” Neves then explains the procedure to follow.
Neves slightly teased in Portugal
The Portuguese press, amused, praises Madalena’s very natural performance… and gently mocks Joao Neves’ much stiffer acting, as he is still a bit shy in front of the camera. CNN Portugal even notes that the actress “seems significantly more comfortable than he does.”
