Bad news for Bayern Munich: Luis Diaz has received a three-match suspension following his expulsion against PSG on November 5 in the Champions League. According to Bild, UEFA sanctioned the Colombian winger for his dangerous tackle on Achraf Hakimi during Bayern’s victory at the Parc des Princes (1-2).
The direct consequence: Hakimi is suffering from a severe ankle sprain and will be out for several weeks. Paris is less relieved, and Munich is even angrier.
Bayern furious, UEFA called to explain
The Bavarian club is in disbelief: they expected only a one-match ban. Instead, it’s three. Bayern has immediately requested UEFA to justify the decision before filing an appeal.
Vincent Kompany himself seemed taken aback: “My information was a single match. I would be really disappointed if my information was incorrect,” the coach stated at a press conference.
Three matches missed… if the verdict stands
If the sanction is confirmed, Luis Diaz will miss:
– the trip to Arsenal (November 26)
– the home match against Sporting CP
– and then the match against Union Saint-Gilloise
Meanwhile, Hakimi is expected to be sidelined for a minimum of 3 to 4 weeks. Major sanction, major frustration.
