Hit by criticism after PSG’s elimination from the Coupe de France, Luis Enrique wanted to clarify things in a press conference, the day before the match against Lille. The Spanish coach appeared annoyed and especially perplexed by the reactions.
Luis Enrique was still irritated. Thursday’s press conference was a bit tense ahead of the clash against Lille. The cause was the questions about the elimination in the Coupe de France against Paris FC. The PSG coach did not really appreciate the criticism. “You have the right to have doubts about the team, I accept that, but I do not understand them,” he stated.
He went on to remind everyone of an obvious fact that he believes is too often forgotten: “Do you really think we are going to win every match? Every trophy? Football does not work that way.”
The Parisian coach emphasized that the team has not changed in its nature: “We are the same team as last year and at the beginning of the season.”
A clear message to defend his group and call for patience. But Luis Enrique also knows that the best response remains on the pitch: “Tomorrow, we will have to show it,” he concluded, referring to the match against Lille, which is expected to be a real test after the disappointment in the Coupe de France.
