The future of Ousmane Dembélé at PSG is far from being completely secured. While discussions about a contract extension are not progressing as hoped, a scenario is starting to circulate behind the scenes: a possible departure to Saudi Arabia if the Parisian club fails to reach an agreement with the French international.
According to several market players, this option is clearly not to be ruled out. Saudi clubs, always very aggressive financially, could offer Dembélé a contract that PSG simply does not wish — or cannot — match. And this is where the core of the problem lies.
On the Paris side, the stance is clear. The club does not intend to enter into a spiral of excessive salaries that would jeopardize its financial balance. Internally, the message is clear: “We are not going to return to absolutely out-of-context salaries that would endanger the economic balance of the club,” assures a source from L’Equipe.
Dembélé towards a huge salary but…
A firm position that aligns with PSG’s new policy, which is more focused on cost control and a more rational management of the wage bill. However, this rigor could come at a price: if Dembélé feels that the Parisian offer does not meet his expectations, the Saudi temptation could become very serious.
For now, nothing is finalized, but the matter is clearly open. And if no agreement is reached, PSG could find itself facing a delicate choice: extend on its terms… or see one of its key players succumb to the sirens of the Gulf.
