Monaco vs PSG: Player Press Ratings

On Tuesday at the Stade Louis-II, PSG secured a 3–2 win against Monaco in the first leg of the Champions League playoff after a dramatic match. The hero of the night with a brace off the bench, Désiré Doué logically received unanimous praise in the press, while the Paris defense drew more mixed reviews. Here is a comparison of the ratings given by Le Parisien, L’Équipe, and VIPSG.

Unsurprisingly, Doué is the big winner in the evaluations. Le Parisien gave him 8.5, L’Équipe 8, and VIPSG went as high as 9, praising an appearance that completely changed the match. Hakimi is also highly rated everywhere (6, 7, and 7.5), rewarded for his goal and overall activity. Zaïre-Emery also comes out well, especially with L’Équipe (7) and VIPSG (7), slightly lower in Le Parisien (5).

Mixed Midfield Reviews and Harsh Defensive Scores

In midfield, opinions are more divided. Vitinha paid the price for his missed penalty: 5 from Le Parisien, 4 from L’Équipe, and 5 from VIPSG. João Neves is valued more by L’Équipe (6) and VIPSG (6.5) than by Le Parisien (4.5). Kvaratskhelia received solid and consistent ratings, between 5 and 6.5 depending on the outlet.

The defense is the most heavily criticized sector. Nuno Mendes received very low ratings (3.5; 3; 5) after his mistake on the opening goal. Marquinhos was also marked down (4; 4; 4.5). Pacho did better with solid scores (5; 6; 6). Safonov earned steady average marks (5; 5; 6). Barcola is correctly rated by L’Équipe and VIPSG (6) and does not appear among Le Parisien’s top picks. Luis Enrique received a 5 from L’Équipe.
