Chelsea vs PSG: Referee announced, plenty of yellow cards but almost no reds

On Tuesday, March 17, PSG will face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the second leg of the 2025–2026 Champions League Round of 16 (9 p.m., Canal+). The Parisians arrive with a clear advantage after their 5–2 victory in the first leg.

The match will be officiated by Slovenian referee Slavko Vincic (46), a regular in the competition with 48 Champions League matches already under his belt. He will be assisted by Tomaz Klancnik and Andraz Kovacic, with David Smajc serving as the fourth official. VAR duties will be handled by Christian Dingert and Robert Schröder.

A referee who rarely shows red cards

In terms of discipline, Vincic hands out an average of 3.66 yellow cards per match, close to the French league average. Red cards are extremely rare with him (0.04 per match), as are second yellow cards. He also awards few penalties, averaging just 0.12 per game.

The Slovenian referee has already officiated PSG four times (2 wins, 1 draw, 1 loss) and Chelsea twice, with two victories for the Blues.
