Paris Saint-Germain secured a major victory against Chelsea (3-0, 5-2 on aggregate), but the win came at a cost as they lost a key player: Bradley Barcola.
The bad news of the day is undoubtedly Barcola’s injury. Forced off around the hour mark during this Champions League Round of 16 second leg, the French winger left the pitch after taking a blow to his right ankle.
Uncertainty Surrounds Barcola’s Condition
Replaced by Désiré Doué, the Parisian winger was immediately attended to by the medical staff, who chose to take no risks. However, images of him leaving Stamford Bridge were far from reassuring: the 23-year-old was seen wearing an orthopedic boot, suggesting a potentially serious injury.
According to L’Équipe, the French international is set to undergo medical tests this Wednesday to determine the exact nature of the injury. While awaiting the results, concern is growing within PSG and also the French national team.
With the next international break approaching, Barcola’s participation already appears in doubt. It could be a significant setback for Didier Deschamps, especially as the PSG player had been gaining momentum in recent weeks, recording 12 appearances and 2 goals in the Champions League this season. The medical verdict is now highly anticipated.
