PSG. Luis Enrique Makes Huge Confession After Title Win

Paris Saint-Germain officially secured their 14th French league title on Wednesday night after a difficult 2-0 victory away to RC Lens. After the match, Luis Enrique admitted that this season had been far more complicated than the previous ones.

Yes, PSG struggled this season. Ligue 1 was tough, and Paris clearly showed signs of fatigue. Without a real summer break last year, the squad endured an extremely difficult start to the campaign. But the second half of the season proved far more impressive. The Parisian staff managed the players on a case-by-case basis with targeted rest periods and short holidays. Now, everyone is fully fit for the big day: May 30 and the Champions League final. Still, this third consecutive Ligue 1 title under Luis Enrique was anything but easy.

Luis Enrique Admits PSG Faced a Difficult Season

“It was the hardest of the three, without any doubt,” the Paris coach admitted during his press conference. The Spanish manager even praised RC Lens, believing that the Sang et Or “deserved a better result” considering how much they troubled PSG for large portions of the match.

Luis Enrique also reminded reporters that his team had to deal with many challenges this season, particularly because of numerous injuries and a brutal schedule following “very little vacation” last summer due to the Club World Cup.

Despite winning another Ligue 1 title, PSG hardly have time to celebrate. The Parisians still face Paris FC on Sunday before turning their full attention to the Champions League final against Arsenal on May 30. Asked about a potential celebration for this 14th title, Luis Enrique responded with his usual humor: “Being in a press conference is my way of celebrating.” A sentence that perfectly sums up PSG’s current mindset: enjoy the moment quickly, then immediately refocus on the ultimate European goal.
