Paris Saint-Germain are trying a new approach to speed up the transfer of Mika Godts. With negotiations with Ajax still stalled over the transfer fee, Luis Campos has reportedly turned to Jorge Mendes in an attempt to find a solution.
PSG are determined to complete the deal for the Belgian winger. According to The Telegraph, renowned Portuguese agent Jorge Mendes has examined Godts’ contract and identified a clause that could potentially allow Paris to complete the transfer for less than the €60 million currently demanded by Ajax.
Jorge Mendes could help PSG lower Godts’ price
PSG have reportedly already reached an agreement on personal terms with the 21-year-old, who is keen to move to the French capital. The only remaining obstacle is an agreement between the two clubs. An initial Paris offer worth around €50 million was rejected, with Ajax holding out for approximately €60 million for one of their most promising players.
Luis Campos has therefore decided to rely on Jorge Mendes and his expertise in contractual matters to potentially reduce the cost of the operation. The clause identified by the agent could strengthen PSG’s position in negotiations and force Ajax to reconsider their demands. Paris remain eager to provide Luis Enrique with another versatile winger capable of operating in several attacking positions.
Meanwhile, Ajax are already working on potential replacements for Godts. Noa Lang is reportedly among the players being considered, while Roony Bardghji is also on the Amsterdam club’s shortlist. Their search for a successor is another indication that Godts’ departure remains a serious possibility.
