Paris Saint-Germain have indeed set their sights on Laciné Megnan-Pavé. At just 16 years old, the Montpellier striker is regarded as one of the biggest talents of his generation and is among the young players the Parisian club would like to attract as part of its new recruitment policy. However, despite the optimism surrounding the deal in recent hours, an agreement is still far from being completed.
Foot Mercato reported that PSG were making progress in their bid to sign the France U16 international, who captains his national team and has scored five goals in 10 appearances for Les Bleuets. The outlet also claimed that the player wanted to move to Paris and that Montpellier were demanding around €15 million to let him leave.

According to L’Équipe, however, the situation is considerably more complicated. The newspaper confirms PSG’s concrete interest and reports that Laciné Megnan-Pavé has already reached an agreement with the French champions over a five-year contract. Paris are therefore well advanced in discussions with the player’s representatives, but negotiations between the two clubs remain the main obstacle. PSG have reportedly submitted several offers, with the latest worth around €10 million, a figure that is currently considered insufficient by Montpellier.

The current trend is actually for the young forward to remain at Montpellier. The coaching staff have reportedly received assurances that Megnan-Pavé will not leave this summer and intend to give him first-team opportunities during the season to help his development. Under contract until 2028 after signing his first professional deal at just 15, the striker is viewed as a major asset by the club. Arsenal and Manchester United are also said to be monitoring his progress.
PSG nevertheless have an important advantage, with the player reportedly attracted by the prospect of moving to Paris. That does not mean a transfer is imminent, however. The capital club must still convince Montpellier to change their position, either by increasing their offer or finding another compromise. The negotiations could therefore continue for several more weeks before the transfer window closes.
