An additional bonus was reserved for the winner. By defeating Aston Villa in Salzburg, PSG therefore collected another €1 million, taking their total earnings from the competition to €5 million. Aston Villa, meanwhile, received the €4 million participation payment.

The financial gap between the two clubs is therefore relatively small, but the prize money adds to the considerable revenue PSG have already generated through their European performances. For the French champions, the evening was doubly rewarding: another European trophy on the sporting front and several more millions added to the club’s income.
