With just over a few hours to go before the clash against Rennes, Luis Enrique still has several important decisions to make. Beaten 1-0 by Lens in the Trophée des Champions, PSG will be looking to respond immediately on Sunday evening at Roazhon Park in their opening Ligue 1 match.

What lineup will PSG use against Stade Rennais? The Paris coach could make several changes after the defeat to Lens. Safonov started in goal in that game, behind Hakimi, Zabarnyi, Pacho and Digne, while Beraldo, Vitinha and Zaïre-Emery formed the midfield. Akliouche, Doué and Kvaratskhelia led the attack.

Several PSG Starters Could Return Against Rennes

Against Rennes, Marquinhos could return in defense, while João Neves is also in contention for a starting place in midfield. Nuno Mendes will definitely be unavailable after his red card against Lens, meaning Lucas Digne is expected to continue at left-back. In goal, Matvey Safonov appears to have the advantage after starting PSG’s last two matches against Aston Villa and Lens, although Lucas Chevalier remains an option.

Vitinha looks certain to start in midfield, with João Neves and Warren Zaïre-Emery well placed to join him, although Fabian Ruiz is another possibility. Competition is even stronger in attack. Kvaratskhelia, Doué and Akliouche have all played significant minutes recently, but Ousmane Dembélé could return to the starting XI. Luis Enrique can also now call on Ferran Torres and Mika Godts, who were unavailable against Lens because they were not eligible to play.

With one day to go before Rennes-PSG, the first likely lineup could therefore be:

Safonov – Hakimi, Marquinhos, Pacho, Digne – João Neves, Vitinha, Zaïre-Emery – Akliouche, Dembélé, Kvaratskhelia. Luis Enrique could still spring one or two surprises, but after the defeat to Lens, PSG will be under pressure to make a strong start to their Ligue 1 campaign.
