Two More Russians at PSG, Why Not?

Aleksandr Golovin knows Ligue 1 well and understands the level required to play for a major club. The AS Monaco midfielder has therefore given his opinion on two Russian players recently linked with PSG: Aleksey Batrakov and Matvey Kislyak. While he stopped short of claiming they would immediately earn a place in the Paris starting XI, Golovin believes his two compatriots have more than enough quality to join the French champions’ squad.

PSG continue to monitor a number of young talents across Europe. In recent months, Aleksey Batrakov and Matvey Kislyak have both been linked with the French capital club. Batrakov, who moved from Lokomotiv Moscow to Galatasaray, and Kislyak, who plays for CSKA Moscow, are among the most closely watched young Russian players. Asked by Sport Express whether they could play for a club like PSG, Golovin gave an encouraging assessment.

Golovin Believes They Could Play for PSG

The Monaco player nevertheless refused to claim that they would automatically strengthen the Parisian side. “I don’t know if the term ‘strengthen’ is appropriate. I don’t know if they would play there. I don’t know if they would play at Monaco either,” he explained. However, Golovin dismissed the idea that Batrakov and Kislyak would not be good enough for a squad of that level. “But they certainly wouldn’t be players who arrive and are of no use. That’s completely wrong. They would be in the squad, they would play matches, and then everything would depend on them.”

The Monaco midfielder went even further when discussing their potential: “I think they are absolutely capable of it.” It is strong backing from a player who has been familiar with the demands of Ligue 1 since joining Monaco in 2018.

It remains to be seen whether PSG’s reported interest will ever lead to anything concrete. Golovin’s comments are obviously not an indication that a transfer is imminent, but they provide an interesting perspective on two players who have reportedly appeared on PSG’s radar.
