Could PSG take advantage of Alejandro Balde’s struggles at FC Barcelona? The 22-year-old Spanish left-back is reportedly now allowed to look for a way out as early as the January transfer window. Manchester United and Liverpool are already keeping tabs on him, but his profile could also represent an interesting opportunity for Paris to monitor.
Alejandro Balde’s situation has completely changed at Barça. Long regarded as one of the Catalan club’s brightest prospects, the Spain international has now fallen well down Hansi Flick’s pecking order. According to TEAMtalk, Xavi Espart, João Cancelo and even Gerard Martin are currently ahead of him. Balde has made just one first-team appearance this season.
Could Balde Become a January Option for PSG?
Barcelona have therefore reportedly opened the door to a departure. The player and his representatives are already working to find a solution, with the Catalan club giving him permission to explore different options. Under contract until 2028, Balde is currently not discussing an extension. PSG are not among the clubs currently mentioned as being in the race, while Manchester United are considering a January loan and Liverpool have also reportedly been contacted by the player’s intermediaries. Sunderland, Everton and Fulham are also said to have been approached.
However, the situation could inevitably attract the attention of several major European clubs, and Paris would have reasons to keep an eye on the case. At just 22, Balde remains a highly promising full-back capable of playing very high up the left flank. His potential availability on loan would also make the deal considerably less risky financially. For PSG, he could provide stronger competition on the left and offer a genuine alternative to Nuno Mendes, with neither Lucas Digne nor Lucas Hernandez seemingly fitting Luis Enrique’s plans.
There is currently no indication that Luis Campos has made a move, but if Barcelona confirm their willingness to let Balde leave this winter, the Spanish defender could emerge as one of the most intriguing opportunities of the January transfer window.
