Deloitte has revealed its study of the clubs that generated the most revenue last season.

In the 2022-2023 season, one of all-time records, Real Madrid regains the top spot in the football economic ranking with a revenue of €831 million.

The Spanish club overtakes Manchester City (€826 million) and narrowly edges out Paris Saint-Germain (€802 million). Real Madrid hadn’t held the top spot since the 2017-2018 season.

Overall, the top 20 richest clubs generated a cumulative revenue record of €10.5 billion, marking a 14% increase compared to the previous season.

These record figures are attributed mainly to ticket sales (€1.9 billion) and merchandising (€4.4 billion).

According to Deloitte, this surge in revenue is explained by the return of supporters to stadiums after the lifting of restrictions related to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, revenues from television broadcasting rights experienced a setback.
