On the eve of the 2025 Intercontinental Cup final against Flamengo, on Wednesday in Doha (6 p.m., M6), Marquinhos made clear PSG’s maximum ambition. The Parisian captain emphasized the historic importance of this trophy, particularly for Brazilian clubs, and the squad’s determination to go and win it.
“It’s a special match for everyone. We know how much this title matters, especially for Brazilian teams. We are ambitious, we are hungry. With a very demanding coach, we are pushed to deliver great performances. Winning a sixth title this season would be incredible,” said the 31-year-old defender.
A Title of Major Symbolic Importance
“Every trophy counts; it’s an important title for us and we are ready for it. It’s our last chance to win a trophy this season, so it’s crucial to do everything possible to win it,” Marquinhos added. “Every title is a privilege. We all know that Qatar is PSG’s second home. It’s a great match to play in an incredible atmosphere.”
Marquinhos is fit for this match, just a few days after suffering an adductor injury. The captain is therefore expected to wear the armband on Wednesday night.
