This Wednesday at 9 PM, Paris Saint-Germain will host Liverpool at the Parc des Princes for the first leg of the 2024-2025 Champions League Round of 16. The return match is scheduled for Tuesday, March 11, at Anfield.
In a press conference, Liverpool’s head coach, Arne Slot, spoke about the challenges his team might face against PSG. Liverpool is expecting an intense tactical battle against a Parisian side that can dictate the tempo and deprive opponents of possession.
“It is difficult to have a lot of possession against PSG. We have to adapt. PSG is undoubtedly one of the best teams with the ball, they are incredibly dangerous offensively. Their pressing is intense.”
Slot fears Barcola, Dembélé, and Kvaratskhelia
“Both teams like to have the ball and work very hard when they don’t. By drawing PSG, we got the toughest opponent, yes, we would have preferred Benfica, yes, but we have to accept the rules of the game.”
“I believe the French league is very strong, as I have often played against French teams. It’s clear that French teams have performed well in the past and that the French national team is one of the best in the world. PSG certainly deserves a lot of credit for what they are doing.”
“I read that Luis Enrique said we have three very fast players in attack, but Barcola, Dembélé, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia are not slow either. We will have a plan, and so will PSG.”
