PSG have won the Classique! Paris secured a 2-1 victory away to Olympique de Marseille after a match that remained tight for a long time before bursting into life in the second half. Ferran Torres and Marquinhos scored the goals that earned the Parisians three valuable points at the Vélodrome.
It took time for the Classique to catch fire. Despite dominating possession, PSG initially struggled against a well-organised Marseille side that remained dangerous on the counter. Ousmane Dembélé tried to lob De Lange, while Désiré Doué repeatedly caused problems for the Marseille defence. Dembélé had Paris’s best chance of the first half but missed a header with the goal seemingly at his mercy. At the other end, Maupay wasted a huge opportunity after good work from Gouiri, and the teams went into the break goalless.
Ferran Torres and Marquinhos deliver for PSG
PSG returned with greater intent after half-time. Doué continued to make a difference, while Khvicha Kvaratskhelia went close following a combination with Dembélé. Luis Enrique then replaced the Georgian with Ferran Torres in the 57th minute, and the decision immediately paid off. Doué found the Spaniard inside the box and Torres guided a perfectly placed header past De Lange for his seventh PSG goal of the season. Marseille quickly responded, however, as Angel Gomes beat Pacho before firing past Safonov to level the score.

Marseille’s celebrations did not last long. Paris immediately attacked again, with Nuno Mendes breaking down the left and delivering a cross into the area. Marquinhos reacted quickest, saw his first attempt saved by De Lange and then converted the rebound to restore PSG’s lead. Timothy Weah later received a second yellow card, leaving OM with ten men, and Paris managed the closing stages to secure a 2-1 Classique victory.
PSG player ratings: Safonov 6.5 — another composed performance, with little chance on Gomes’s equaliser. Zaïre-Emery 6 — solid at right-back in Hakimi’s absence. Marquinhos 7.5 — strong defensively and scored the decisive goal, making him VIPSG’s Man of the Match. Pacho 5.5 — generally solid but beaten by Gomes for the equaliser. Nuno Mendes 7 — much more dangerous after the break and directly involved in Marquinhos’s winner. Vitinha 7 — the technical leader in midfield. João Neves 6.5 — energetic and influential without being decisive in the final third. Fabian Ruiz 6 — tidy but relatively quiet. Désiré Doué 7.5 — one of PSG’s biggest threats and provided the assist for Torres. Ousmane Dembélé 6 — lively and technically impressive at times but missed a huge first-half chance. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia 5.5 — showed flashes of danger but lacked consistency. Substitutes: Ferran Torres 7.5 — came on in the 57th minute and quickly scored his seventh goal of the season.
