PSG Are 99.998% Champions!

PSG are now just inches away from another Ligue 1 title. Thanks to their narrow but crucial 1-0 victory over Brest on Sunday night at the Parc des Princes, the Parisian club have virtually secured another league crown with only two matches remaining.

After the game, Luis Enrique did not try to create any suspense around the title race. The PSG manager already considers the championship almost won by his side. “We are already champions, at 99.9%,” the Spanish coach said with a smile.

PSG Close In On Another Ligue 1 Title

The statistics fully support that feeling. PSG now hold a six-point lead over Lens before the clash between the two teams on Wednesday at Bollaert, giving Paris an advantage that is almost impossible to overturn.

According to statistical projections, PSG now have a 99.998% chance of finishing as French champions. To lose the title, an almost impossible scenario would need to happen: defeats against Lens and Paris FC, combined with two Lens victories over PSG and Lyon.

Even in that unlikely situation, Lens would still need to erase a massive goal difference gap. PSG currently boast a +44 goal difference compared to Lens’ +29, meaning a 15-goal swing would have to happen in just two games. In other words, barring a historic collapse, Paris Saint-Germain should officially secure another Ligue 1 title very soon before fully focusing on the Champions League final against Arsenal in Budapest.
