Arne Slot reacts to Liverpool’s Champions League elimination: PSG was too strong.
The Paris Saint-Germain pulled off a sensational comeback, knocking Liverpool out of the Champions League (1-0, 0-1, 1-4 pens). After the match, Liverpool manager Arne Slot analyzed this frustrating defeat for his team.
“I think this was the best football match I’ve been involved in. We dominated the first 20-25 minutes, creating chance after chance, yet found ourselves trailing 1-0. It was almost the opposite of last week. Maybe luck wasn’t on our side… The margins were so small tonight,” Slot told Prime Video.
“We played, I would say, the perfect game—except for the fact that we didn’t score. The same thing happened to PSG last week, and tonight it was our turn. I expected us to score at any moment.”
PSG Can Win It All
Despite Liverpool’s elimination, Slot acknowledged PSG’s strength and even sees them as a serious contender for the title. Their next opponent: Aston Villa or Club Brugge.
“I think Paris can win the competition, but they’re not the only ones. You also need a bit of luck because knockout games are unpredictable. If they play like this and stay injury-free, they have a real chance,” the Dutch coach explained.
“They are also one of the richest clubs in Europe, so it’s no surprise to see them among the best teams.”
