Paris Saint-Germain’s squad is gradually returning to full strength. Just two days before the UEFA Super Cup clash against Aston Villa, Luis Enrique welcomed back several key players to training on Monday morning at the PSG Campus.
Désiré Doué, Ousmane Dembélé, Bradley Barcola, Warren Zaïre-Emery and Lucas Hernandez were all back in Poissy. They were joined by Lucas Digne, who recently completed his return to PSG, while Maghnes Akliouche is also continuing his integration following his arrival in the French capital.
Hakimi and Ruiz also return to PSG training
Luis Enrique also received another major boost with the return of Achraf Hakimi and Fabian Ruiz. Both players had been given additional time off after their international commitments and are now back with the squad as PSG step up preparations for their first major official fixture of the season.
The timing is particularly important for the Parisian coach, who had been working with a reduced squad during the opening weeks of pre-season. Several youngsters were heavily involved in the friendly matches, but the return of the established internationals should allow Luis Enrique to field a much stronger team against Aston Villa.
With the UEFA Super Cup scheduled for Wednesday, the main question now concerns the fitness levels of the returning players. Some may not yet be ready to start, but their presence in training gives PSG significantly more options ahead of the clash with Aston Villa.
