Paris Saint-Germain face Stade Rennais this Sunday evening at 8:45pm at Roazhon Park, in a match initially scheduled to be played at the Parc des Princes. PSG’s official starting lineup has now been confirmed, with Luis Enrique making several strong choices.
PSG are about to begin their Ligue 1 campaign after the 1-0 defeat to Lens in the Trophée des Champions. For the trip to Rennes, Luis Enrique has selected a very strong side, with several key players returning and a highly anticipated attacking trio.
Safonov starts as Marquinhos and João Neves return
As expected, Matvey Safonov keeps his place in goal ahead of Lucas Chevalier. Achraf Hakimi starts at right-back, while Marquinhos returns to the starting XI alongside Willian Pacho in central defence. On the left, Lucas Hernandez gets the nod, with Nuno Mendes suspended following his red card against Lens. In midfield, João Neves starts alongside Warren Zaïre-Emery and Vitinha, meaning Fabian Ruiz begins on the bench.
Up front, Ousmane Dembélé returns to the starting lineup alongside Désiré Doué and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Maghnes Akliouche, Ferran Torres and Mika Godts all start on the bench.
PSG’s official XI is: Safonov – Hakimi, Marquinhos (capt.), Pacho, Lucas Hernandez – Zaïre-Emery, Vitinha, João Neves – Doué, Dembélé, Kvaratskhelia. Luis Enrique is therefore fielding a side very close to his strongest possible XI as Paris look to respond immediately after their defeat to Lens.
Bastien Dechepy will referee the game, assisted by Aurélien Berthomieu and Valentin Evrard, with Geoffrey Kubler as fourth official and Nicolas Rainville and Wilfried Bien on VAR duty.
The match takes place on Sunday, August 23, 2026 at 8:45pm at Roazhon Park . With Marquinhos, João Neves and Dembélé all starting, PSG are clearly aiming to open their Ligue 1 season with all three points in Rennes.
