According to several posts circulating on social media, the Real Madrid star supposedly disappeared after the 2026 World Cup before being replaced by a lookalike. As the days passed, the story gained even crazier elements involving the CIA, aliens and even reptilians. Needless to say, there is no credible evidence supporting any of these claims.
It all reportedly started with simple photo comparisons. Some Brazilian social media users claim to have noticed physical differences between the Vinicius who plays for Real Madrid and the player who recently appeared for the Brazilian national team. Among the main “clues” cited are his tattoos, with some users claiming that tattoos normally visible on his thigh have disappeared in certain photos with Brazil. Others have pointed to supposed differences in his face, although none of these comparisons provide any evidence that a lookalike exists.

The first version of the theory claims that Vinicius mysteriously disappeared after the 2026 World Cup and that a double was brought in to replace him, allowing the player to seemingly continue fulfilling his sporting commitments and numerous sponsorship deals. But the story did not stop there. As the rumor spread, increasingly spectacular versions emerged, with some posts involving the CIA or mysterious international “elites,” while others even claim Vinicius was killed after the tournament and replaced. There is no serious evidence whatsoever to support these scenarios.
Another version goes even further by bringing aliens into the story. An old video featuring a Brazilian fortune teller resurfaced in which she described dreaming about an alien invasion at a football stadium in Miami, with several players taken aboard a spacecraft. The clip was quickly linked to Vinicius, with some posts now claiming that the Real Madrid forward was abducted alongside Neymar during the World Cup. To make the theory even more bizarre, other users have added reptilians to the story, suggesting they are responsible for the player’s supposed physical changes.
Vinicius and Real Madrid appear completely unconcerned by the rumors. According to Marca, the Spanish club and the Brazilian’s entourage are paying no attention to these “fake news” stories, viewing them simply as absurd claims born on social media. Vinicius continues his career normally with Real Madrid and Brazil, and there is no concrete evidence supporting any of the theories circulating online. His more inconsistent performances may have helped fuel the comparisons, but between a simple dip in form and a Vinicius abducted by aliens, replaced by a lookalike and caught up in a CIA operation, social media has clearly embraced the more spectacular version.
