Paris Saint-Germain suffered a huge disappointment on Monday, being knocked out in the Round of 16 of the Coupe de France by Paris FC (0–1) at the Parc des Princes. Despite being largely dominant, the capital club was undone by a lack of efficiency that proved very costly.
After the match, Luis Enrique felt his team did not deserve this setback. “I think it’s very easy to analyze and judge this match. We created a lot of chances, we deserved to win, we played well. But to win in football, you have to score goals. You have to accept this defeat.”
A Night of Missed Chances
“Fatigue? No, not at all. We took 25 shots, we created a lot of chances, we dominated the match from the first to the last minute, we did everything to win. I’m very happy with what I saw, with the intensity and how the team played, but it’s a sport where you have to score goals. We clearly deserved to win,” the Spaniard insisted to beIN Sports.
Despite the elimination, the Parisian coach wanted to focus on the positives in the press conference. “There are always positive things to take away, you have to analyze it that way. Of course, this was not our objective (to be eliminated), it’s a competition we like.”
“But you have to accept it, that’s how it is. However, if I have to lose a match or a competition, I’d like to lose this way,” he concluded, praising his players’ performance despite the result.
