Even Lionel Messi has to go through security checks. When the Argentina delegation arrived in Miami, the former PSG player was screened with a metal detector, just like an ordinary traveler.
Lionel Messi is traveling like everyone else in Donald Trump’s United States. Upon arriving in Miami, La Pulga was searched and passed through a metal detector on the airport tarmac.
Messi Takes the Security Check with a Smile
The scene inevitably amused people. Seeing the greatest player in history wait and be checked like everyone else, in the middle of the World Cup, is not exactly a familiar image.
Argentina are back in Miami after already playing in Florida for their opening match, before traveling through Texas and then Kansas City. On Saturday, the Albiceleste return to Miami to face Cape Verde in the round of 32.
🚨 𝗠Ê𝗠𝗘 𝗠𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗜 𝗣𝗔𝗦𝗦𝗘 𝗔𝗨 𝗗É𝗧𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗘𝗨𝗥 DE METAUX ! 😳🇦🇷
Arrivé à Miami avec l’Argentine, qui est pourtant la ville où il réside et joue avec l'Inter, l’ancien joueur du PSG a été contrôlé comme un voyageur lambda. 😅

Upon arrival, Messi was given no special treatment. Security check, metal detector, standard protocol: even the GOAT has to follow the rules. The funniest part was his reaction. Far from being annoyed, the Argentine smiled and even laughed at the situation, as if he too found the scene rather improbable. A light little moment, but a telling one: in this World Cup, even Lionel Messi becomes an ordinary traveler again when it is time for security checks.
