PSG Favorite (or Not), Support from Management: Luis Enrique Reveals All Before Dortmund/PSG

Before the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League 2023/2024 against Borussia Dortmund, Luis Enrique discussed the state of the PSG squad.

Youthfulness. “If we lose, is it because we’re young, and if we win, is it luck? Age is not important. Youthfulness is ready. I don’t like it when young players are criticized. The youngsters are super ready. I think about the maturity of the players and how they train, whether they are 55 or 16 years old.”

PSG Can Win. “I hope so. My experience tells me that tomorrow is when you need to be competitive. In the group stage, we failed to win away but we did it against Real Sociedad and Barcelona. History can repeat itself or not. The goal is to win here. All teams have their strengths and weaknesses. But my temperament is always to believe that my players are the best. We have weaknesses but we are working on them. It all comes down to possession. Our goal will be to dominate the ball.”

Team Improvement. “We have improved defensively and offensively. But we can still improve; we need to be demanding. There is still a lot to do. We have been able to overcome moments when we were at a disadvantage; we have been able to come back in the last minutes.”

Luis Enrique Feels Supported. “Since my arrival, I have felt the support of the club and the players. We are in a process of improvement; it is only the beginning of the project. There is still a month left, and we can still win all competitions. We must try to manage our emotions well, manage the pressure well. Pressure should not be seen as a threat.”

PSG Huge Favorite? “That’s why I’ve been saying for a long time that the press knows nothing about football. What’s beautiful is enjoying a special match in a unique atmosphere in Europe.”
