Just a few days ago, Aleksey Batrakov was reportedly “95% likely” to join Paris Saint-Germain. Now, however, the talented attacking midfielder from Lokomotiv Moscow appears to be moving further away from the French champions. The Russian youngster had seemed on the verge of joining the two-time European champions.
The Aleksey Batrakov transfer is not completely dead yet, but the situation is becoming increasingly complicated. Earlier this week, one of his representatives claimed that Luis Campos was expected to travel to Russia to finalize a deal worth around €25 million. Since then, however, the negotiations have taken an unexpected turn.
English Competition Changes Everything
According to PSG Inside Actus on X, a meeting between PSG and Lokomotiv Moscow was supposed to help move the transfer forward. Instead, the Russian club reportedly informed Paris that they had received a higher offer from an English side. This new competition has allegedly encouraged Lokomotiv to increase their financial demands.
That approach is said to have irritated PSG officials. Negotiations have been ongoing for nearly two months, and this last-minute change in stance reportedly cooled the enthusiasm of the club’s decision-makers. At the same time, Le Parisien reports that PSG are not planning to accelerate talks and are currently prioritizing other targets to strengthen the squad.
At just 20 years old, Batrakov remains one of the most highly regarded talents in Russian football. However, with Lokomotiv’s rising demands and PSG’s growing reluctance, the deal now looks far more difficult to complete. While the player’s entourage is still trying to convince the Russian club to continue discussions with Paris, the famous “95%” prediction now feels very distant. What once looked like a routine transfer could become one of the surprise sagas of PSG’s summer window, especially as the club maintains a strict policy of moving on quickly from players who prove too difficult to sign.
