Eli Junior Kroupi was one of PSG’s attacking targets during the last transfer window. But since then, Paris have signed Ferran Torres to fill the number nine role, while the French striker remains at Bournemouth. It is a situation Barcelona could take advantage of, with the Catalan club maintaining their interest and considering a move in the summer of 2027.
Kroupi’s name had been strongly linked with Paris Saint-Germain. Last spring, L’Équipe reported that PSG had made a move for the former Lorient forward following his first major Premier League season with Bournemouth. His profile was particularly attractive: young, French, versatile and already performing in England. However, Bournemouth had no intention of selling their striker cheaply, and their financial demands quickly complicated the deal.
Ferran Torres changes PSG’s plans
Since then, the situation has changed considerably. Following Gonçalo Ramos’ departure, PSG strengthened their attack by signing Ferran Torres from Barcelona. The Spaniard signed a contract until 2031 and took the number nine shirt. That inevitably raises questions over Kroupi’s future as a potential PSG target. Paris have not necessarily removed him from their shortlist, especially given his ability to play in several attacking positions, but Torres’ arrival means there is far less urgency to recruit another striker.
Meanwhile, Barcelona have not given up on Kroupi. According to Sport, the Catalan club remain in contact with the player’s representatives and continue to monitor his situation. Barça are not expected to make an immediate move, however, with an approach more likely from the summer of 2027. Bournemouth’s asking price could also prove a major obstacle, with the English club reportedly demanding at least €100 million. Arsenal and Tottenham are also said to be keeping a close eye on his development.
A few months ago, PSG appeared to be a credible destination for Eli Junior Kroupi, but the landscape has now changed. Paris have found their number nine in Ferran Torres, while Barcelona continue to work behind the scenes on a potential 2027 move. The door to PSG is not necessarily completely closed, but after Torres’ arrival, it certainly appears far less open than it was at the beginning of the summer.
