The summer transfer window is closed, but rumors are still swirling. Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano dropped a bombshell: PSG seriously considered Rodrygo this summer.
The Brazilian could have joined Paris as a fallback option if Bradley Barcola had left. According to Romano, PSG sporting advisor Luis Campos viewed Rodrygo as the ideal replacement, with a €100m fee even floated for the move.
In reality, however, PSG never really opened the door for Barcola’s departure – the former Lyon winger is seen as untouchable.
A Rodrygo–Barcola swap in 2026?
In Spain, the press suggests Real Madrid are now closely monitoring Barcola. The scenario could gain traction if Rodrygo, who already hinted at leaving last summer, pushes for an exit in 2026.
For now, such a blockbuster swap remains unlikely. Still, it highlights just how far Barcola’s stock has risen in European football – and why PSG have no intention of letting him go anytime soon.
