A new refereeing controversy has hit Ligue 1. During the Rennes vs. PSG match, referee Mathieu Vernice found himself at the center of criticism following a tense exchange with Habib Beye.

After Bradley Barcola’s opening goal, Beye pointed out that the free-kick had been taken too far from where the foul occurred, a detail that could have influenced the play. However, Vernice dismissed the concern with a blunt “That’s not my problem”, despite the clear need to reposition the ball correctly.

No Card for Barcola, but Samba Gets One

The referee’s decisions continued to raise eyebrows. Barcola deliberately handled the ball but escaped punishment, while Brice Samba, who protested, was shown a yellow card.

Adding to the irony, Barcola was eventually booked moments later for diving in the box, further fueling the debate over the inconsistency of refereeing decisions in the match.
