Big tactical change coming at PSG?

Marquinhos-PSG

The international break has once again hit PSG hard. Ousmane Dembélé (hamstring, six weeks) and Désiré Doué (calf, four weeks) are both sidelined. Two big blows that force Luis Enrique to rethink his plans.

The weeks ahead look tough: Ligue 1 clashes including the OM, followed by Atalanta (September 17) and Barcelona (October 1) in the Champions League. With two attacking weapons out, Enrique is reportedly considering a new setup – switching to a three-man defense.

A back three?

The idea: Marquinhos as sweeper, Illia Zabarnyi on the right, and Willian Pacho on the left. Three different but complementary profiles bringing solidity, pace and build-up play. This would fully unleash Hakimi and Nuno Mendes on the flanks.

It would also help offset the lack of offensive depth behind the trio of Barcola – Ramos – Kvaratskhelia. Once again, Enrique shows his adaptability, ready to try a tactical gamble in a tricky period.
