Several PSG Stars Are Underpaid !

A chill has settled over PSG. While one might think that Parisian players are swimming in millions, a study by CIES claims that several of them earn far less than they deserve. Yes, even with Qatar’s money, some would be… underpaid.

The club has made a significant effort to reduce its wage bill, dropping from 110% of the budget to less than 60% in two years. A financial success according to Paris. However, CIES estimates that this policy leaves several players far from their “deserved salary.”

Joao Neves, one of the most underpaid players in the world

According to CIES figures, Joao Neves should earn €17.3 million per year based on his performance. At PSG, he only earns €4.8 million. A huge gap. And he is not the only one.

The report notably cites: Kvaratskhelia: €16.2 million “deserved” vs €10.8 million actual, Pacho, Barcola, Doué, Kang-In Lee: all paid below their sporting value. According to this method, PSG even has one of the most underpaid squads in Europe relative to performance.

Conversely, CIES estimates that Lucas Hernandez is rather well compensated: his annual €13.2 million would exceed his sporting merit. A study that raises eyebrows… at a time when Paris is trying to balance its accounts.
