Nasri Ready to Snub PSG/Arsenal? He Responds to the Rumor

Samir Nasri wanted to clear things up before the Champions League final between Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal FC. Contrary to reports mentioned by Le Parisien, the former midfielder insists that his absence in Budapest has nothing to do with the insults he received during the semi-final second leg against Bayern Munich.

Samir Nasri denies any boycott of PSG. In an interview with L’Équipe, the Canal+ pundit admitted that he was targeted by some Paris supporters, including insults directed at his mother.

Nasri Explains Canal+ Decision

“Yes, it’s true (that he received insults). But it’s part of the game as a former Marseille player to be insulted by Paris supporters… Even though I think they had more important things to do, like celebrating qualification for the final (smile). However, that’s not why I’m not going to Budapest for the final,” he explained.

Nasri also revealed that Canal+ made an editorial choice regarding the pundits selected for the final. “It’s PSG-Arsenal, so it’s better to have Robert Pires fully supporting the Gunners and David Ginola fully supporting PSG rather than someone neutral like me on the panel. Arsenal is also my former club, but I don’t have an extraordinary relationship with their supporters anymore (since his transfer to Manchester City in 2011),” Nasri told L’Équipe.

The former France international will still appear on Canal+ after the match from the channel’s headquarters in Paris, where he will take part in the post-match analysis of the highly anticipated final.
