The race for the 2026 Ballon d’Or looks set to be particularly open, but Vitinha has already made his choice. For the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, the trophy should go to one of his teammates.
Vitinha believes another PSG player should win the Ballon d’Or this season after Dembélé in 2025. The Portuguese midfielder feels several Paris players have enjoyed strong enough campaigns to challenge for football’s biggest individual prize, notably naming Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Ousmane Dembélé and Fabian Ruiz.
Vitinha backs Kvaratskhelia, Dembélé or Fabian Ruiz
“There are a lot of players this year who can win the Ballon d’Or. For me, it would be fair for it to be a PSG player: Kvara, who had an excellent season, especially in the Champions League, Ousmane, who had another great season, or even Fabian, who won everything.”
The PSG midfielder nevertheless admits the competition will be fierce, with Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappé among the other names he mentioned. “Those three would be my choices. But yes, there are other great players: Kane, Kylian… I hope I’m not forgetting anyone.”
Despite the competition, Vitinha remains loyal to his teammates and makes his preference perfectly clear: “I would vote for a PSG player to win the Ballon d’Or.”
