Terrible news for Eli Junior Kroupi. The young Bournemouth striker is expected to be sidelined for several months after suffering a serious foot injury during a pre-season training session.
Eli Junior Kroupi was already dreaming of joining Barcelona or perhaps PSG, but those hopes now appear to be fading. The Frenchman was forced to leave his club’s training camp in Austria and return to England. Medical tests revealed a fracture of the fifth metatarsal that required surgery.
Kroupi Faces Three to Four Months Out
According to David Ornstein, Eli Junior Kroupi underwent successful surgery in recent hours. He is currently expected to be unavailable for between three and four months, although the exact length of his recovery will depend on how his rehabilitation progresses.
The injury is a major blow for both Bournemouth and the player, who had hoped to use pre-season to earn an important role in the squad and continue his development in the Premier League. His name had recently been linked with Paris Saint-Germain, but the French champions had only studied his profile without making him a genuine priority.
Luis Enrique and Luis Campos are reportedly looking for a striker capable of making an immediate impact at the highest level in Europe, while Kroupi is still viewed as a developing talent. A move to PSG was therefore not seriously being considered in the short term, and this injury is now likely to end all summer speculation, with Barcelona also potentially abandoning their interest as the player begins a long rehabilitation process.
