Maldini and Leonardo to Lead Italy’s Rebuild

Maldini is expected to receive significant sporting authority as he attempts to redefine the direction of Italian football. His experience at the highest level, both as a player and an executive, is seen as a major asset in the reconstruction of the Azzurri.

Leonardo, the former sporting director of PSG and AC Milan, will support the new structure as an adviser, particularly on sporting strategy, recruitment and the organisation of the national teams. The pair are also expected to play a key role in selecting Italy’s next head coach.
