Ferran Torres, Only a Backup Plan for PSG?

Paris Saint-Germain are working hard to reshape their attack this summer. While rumours suggest that a contractual agreement with Barcelona forward Ferran Torres could be close, well-informed PSG insider Djamel has provided major clarification regarding the French club’s true priorities.

The story initially set social media alight. According to Diario Sport and PSGInside-Actu, Ferran Torres and PSG had reached an agreement in principle over a five-year contract, including a salary increase of around 25%. The Spanish international, whose contract-extension talks with Barcelona have stalled, had reportedly even made Paris his preferred destination. Forced to sell players to raise funds, the Catalan club would demand approximately €45 million for a player highly rated by Luis Enrique.

Kroupi remains ahead of Torres on PSG’s shortlist

However, the reality of PSG’s transfer strategy could be very different. According to Djamel, Luis Enrique’s interest in Ferran Torres is genuine, but several aspects of the story have been distorted. The move would have no connection to Bradley Barcola’s future, as PSG are specifically looking for a versatile attacker to compensate for Gonçalo Ramos’ departure. Torres would also only be the club’s second choice, with highly rated youngster Éli Junior Kroupi currently ahead of him on the Parisian shortlist.

The main obstacle concerns Bournemouth’s financial demands for Kroupi, which PSG consider far too high. The French champions therefore face a strategic decision: overpay for the promising forward or move ahead with Ferran Torres, an experienced player Luis Enrique knows extremely well from their time together with the Spanish national team. The coming weeks are expected to prove decisive.
